pure reiki healing master

Reiki has gained in popularity over the years due to its natural, safe, easy and effective healing process. Many people practise reiki for their own well-being, and some take the next step to provide reiki healing to others who suffer from anxiety, stress or a weak immune system. People learn to give reiki to themselves on a regular basis to help keep their mind peaceful, have a better sleep, experience cheerfulness in life, or to get relief from pain in any part of the body.

This diagram shows where in the body various energy centres are located.

This natural healing therapy gently balances life-force energies in our body. It works to promote health and well-being of the entire physical, emotional and psychic body.

Reiki practice is a specific type of subtle energy work in which healing is performed through the energy centres located in our hands, which allow for the flow of energy (a divine infinite source of pure energy available in the cosmos). It is an extremely powerful, yet gentle energy that can be easily channelled to your own self and to others. The practitioner goes through a process of energy-opening attunement with the help of a reiki master. This allows one’s body to act as a medium in the transfer of energy to oneself or others, purely for the means of welfare and good intention. It’s a spiritual healing and self-improvement method everyone can use.

During a session, the client remains either seated or laying down, fully clothed and relaxed. A reiki treatment feels like a warm, gentle, comforting sunshine flowing throughout and around the body.

To help understand the reiki energy system, our body is composed not only of muscles, bones, nerves or organs, but also a subtle energy system through which life-force energy flows. The energy bodies work through energy centres called chakras, which work somewhat like valves, allowing the life force to circulate through the body.

There are seven major chakras located in the spine and the skull. Each chakra corresponds to different functions of the body, and our emotions (see diagram).

Their correct functioning influences our physical condition; the decisions we make; and how we choose to respond to conditions in our day to day life. They assist in balancing our body’s systems and mental functions.

Traditional yoga texts explain that if our life-force energy is low or blocked, we are more likely to get sick; if it is high and free-flowing, we more easily maintain health and a feeling of well-being. One thing that disrupts and weakens the flow of life-force energy is stress. Stress is often caused by conflicting thoughts and feelings that get lodged in one's subtle energy system. These can be defined as doubt, fear, worry, anxiety, jealousy or anger. The effects of unreleased stress range from minor aches to major health concerns such as hypertension and heart disease.

Many people are practising natural healing techniques such as meditation and yoga, along with a focus on diet, to improve their health. This often results in a deeper awareness of the flow of subtle energies. This increased awareness validates the ancient wisdom of yoga texts which describe the life-force energy (called Prana) as the cause of health, and the lack of it as the cause of illness.

For maintaining good health, the practice of reiki and yoga go hand in hand. Performing yoga postures helps to increase the flow of reiki energy in a person’s life, and helps one understand reiki in a much deeper way. Likewise, reiki helps a person understand the deeper energies of yoga. Traditional therapeutic yoga is completely based on our energy system, and emphasizes the correct practise of yoga poses for maintaining balance in our energy centres.
